Introducing a New Journal: Diversity & Inclusion Research
Launching in 2023! Diversity & Inclusion Research is an important new Open Access, multidisciplinary journal publishing high-quality research focussed on improving diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility at the individual, organizational, and societal level. Published by Wiley, the journal aims to contribute towards the deepening of local and international, theoretical and practical understandings of DE&I.
There is an increasing urgency driving a need for rigorous inequality research. More than two-thirds of countries are experiencing increased income disparity, exacerbating the risks of economic and social division. The United Nations World Social Report has detailed how income disparities and a lack of opportunities based on identity are becoming more pronounced, creating a vicious cycle of inequality, frustration and discontent across generations. The inequality challenge is global and intimately connected to other pressing issues of our times: rapid technological change, the climate crisis, urbanization, and migration. There has never been a more critical time for focussed research in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I).
By way of response, Diversity & Inclusion Research sets out to provide a single outlet for the global community of researchers, social scientists, educators and policy-makers attempting to disentangle the complex drivers of inequality across disciplines and sectors. We aim to publish high quality research from all disciplines that investigates questions of opportunity, inequality, diversity, access, and inclusion as related to gender, ethnicity, class, citizenship, dis/ability, age, sexual orientation, religion, as well as other forms of inequality and protected characteristics. We also encourage research that is specifically connected to opportunities for furthering the UN Sustainable Development Goals and will consider submissions of empirical, theoretical, and methodological articles, as well as new and experimental forms of research, replication studies, case reports, data reports, ‘state of the field’, and negative findings.
The submission site is planned for launch by September 2023. Diversity & Inclusion Research seeks to be author-and reader-friendly with quick review and publication times and will follow a ‘free format’ submission process.
